Chicago, also known as the “Windy City” and “Chi-City” is the third largest city in the United States renowned by its unmatched skyline which includes the two tallest buildings in the country. The city located on the shore of the Lake Michigan attracts millions of domestic and foreign visitors with its magnificent architecture, some of the best museums in the country, rich historic and cultural heritage, sandy beaches and lakefront parks, excellent food, lively nightlife, great shopping opportunities, exciting amusement parks, world-class sports attractions,... you name it. The majority of Chicago's main attractions are found in Downtown consisting of The Loop, Near North and Near South which is home to the most spectacular skyscrapers in the city. There you will find the Willis Tower (formerly known as Sears Tower) that was the tallest building in the world since its completion in 1974 until 1999 and remains the tallest building in the United States. Downtown Chicago is also home to the Trump International Hotel and Tower, the second nation's tallest building as well as many other impressive skyscrapers. After all, Chicago is the birthplace of the skyscraper. Downtown Chicago is also home to the Merchandise Mart which is with the 4 million square feet of floor space the largest building in the world.

Visitors interested in history will enjoy visiting many prominent historical building and places as well as an array of world-class museums and cultural attractions. Follow The Magnificent Mile from the Michigan Avenue to Oak Street and you will see many famous landmarks such as the Palmolive Building, Tribune Tower, Old Chicago Water Tower District, Jean Baptiste Point Du Sable Homesite, Fort Dearborn, Allerton Hotel and many other notable buildings and structures many of which have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places or designated as National Historic Landmarks or Chicago Landmarks. The Magnificent Mile also includes some of the finest museums in the city and other sites of interest including the Field Museum of Natural History, the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium, Museum of Contemporary Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Science and History, the Richard H. Driehaus Museum, Chicago Children's Museum, Lincoln Park Zoo and John Hancock Observatory. The Magnificent Mile also offers great shopping opportunities and has some of the best bars in the city.

Downtown Chicago offers lot to see and experience but if your time allows you should visit some of the city's ethnic neighborhoods which reflect Chicago's ethnic diversity and make you feel like you were abroad. Worth visiting are also the city's lakefront parks such as the Grant Park where you can enjoy the view of the Lake Michigan as well as many park's features such as the beautiful Buckingham Fountain which is one of the world's largest fountains.
